Portland Timbers

One of the newest teams in the MLS (Major League Soccer) is the Portland Timbers. The Timbers moved up to this league in 2011 and it has seen its popularity boom in Portland. We were lucky enough to snag third row seats for my first soccer game.

Here's Steven with his new Timbers scarf.

This is the view after the Timber's first goal of the game. They have giant smoke bombs, chainsaws, and paper streamers everywhere. The crowd is so into it. They even have a section called the Timber's Army who yells chants the entire game. My favorite was, "when I root, I root for the Timbers." They were also the most eclectic bunch of fans I've ever seen. You had families, businessmen, and the tattooed and pierced. They were so polite too. Whenever a Timber missed a shot, they would would clap and cheer giving the player some encouragement. This is a far cry from what any New York fan would do if a player screwed something up.

Nephew Time

Here's Martin teaching Matthew to walk. He's getting super close.

Here's what I said, "Hey Martin, smile for the camera." And this is what I got. Perfection. Doesn't he look so tiny next to the corn?

Sitting on their chairs on the porch.

Just a little baby wrestling.

Kim and Scott's Baby Shower

On Friday, Kylie, Ruth, Kori, and I threw a baby shower bbq for Kim and Scott. This little one is supposed to arrive on August 15th. I think he'll be coming out sooner. It was a fun time especially the preparation. Who knew Kylie and I had such skills in the kitchen! ;)

Great Grandma Barry's Cookies

I'm making these cookies right now. They are the best. Here's a scan on the recipe that my Great Grandma Barry wrote out for my mom. I love that she signed it!

John C. Fremont Days

This weekend my town's annual celebration. I've been attending this event since I was little. It takes place in the town park. There are food vendors, crafts, games, etc. Since it was Steven's first time, we made sure to do it right

One of this year's main events was the attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records largest open face sandwich. Thanks to 1,500 pounds of Spam, we were successful. The sandwich weighed over 1,600 pounds and was baked in a converted semi-truck trailer. We quickly fled as they started passing out samples. What you see in the picture is the layer of pickles covering the sandwich.

After stops at the car and home shows, we were off to the town rodeo. A first for Steven. Here's a picture of an unsuccessful attempt by a cowboy to ride a bull.

The last picture is of my new desk! I found it at the Estate Dispersal Store and just had to have it. It was also 50% off which totally helped. It's called a "piano desk" because the lid comes down like a piano. It will fit my laptop perfectly.

A video of me!

Just read this article by Alex Ross. Then to my surprise I watched the video and it was a rehearsal from 2009 that I was in.
Check it out HERE!

Nebraska Update

I have nothing new or exciting to report here in Fremont, Nebraska.
We had a nice 4th of July. We did the 2 mile run/walk in Hooper in the morning, had a bbq with some of my parent's friends in the afternoon, and headed to Omaha to watch the fireworks that evening.
We decided to cancel our upcoming Wisconsin trip because we're not sure when our stuff will be arriving at the storage unit.
Steven has been spending time getting his golf game up to speed and will take some lessons next week.
Other than that, there's been plenty of time for taking naps, watching movies, and relaxing.
